Fighting EX Layer is coming to Switch
Another April 1st, another batch of Arika news. Lo and behold, Fighting EX Layer—one of my favorite fighters in recent years—is headed to Nintendo Switch. Awesome!
Fighting EX Layer: Another Dash is a new iteration of FEXL, simplifying/overhauling many of the mechanics from the original game. The Gougi system, for example, appears to have been completely jettisoned (which already sounds like a HUGE improvement). Now there are three “EX Actions” that allow you to chain together moves or evade attacks at the cost of some super meter.
With a midnight April 1st livestream, director Akira Nishitani announced the game and gave a demonstration. FEXL_AD will be offered in two versions: the “Full Pack” complete version game for about $25, and a free download version limited to four characters: Kairi, D. Dark, Shirase, and Darun.
FEXL_AD was made available in Japan and Hong Kong immediately, but is coming to North America and Europe on April 15th. However, if you have a Japan-region Nintendo account, you can download the free version of the game and try it out right now.
New Update:
The western release of Fighting EX Layer: Another Dash has officially been delayed to May 27, 2021.
